Mil Spec C

In the early 1970’s, the United States Air Force Packaging Division established government specification to be used for packaging foam.  These specifications are detailed in the document Military Specifications (MIL-PRF-26514G).  Military Specifications provide testing procedures and performance requirements for each class of polyurethane foam used in government packaging.  The specification includes objectives for water absorption, creep, compression set, pliability, volume change, combustibility, compressive strength, dynamic cushioning properties, anti-static and corrosive characteristics.  ASTM test procedures are often used in combination with the Military Specifications to enhance the complete packaging requirements.

Due to the large number of requirements and constantly changing materials, it is important keep updated on the Military Specifications.
